When the computers went down at Unied Cab for a while, Ruben had to dispatch calls the way we used to do it - by voice. I had no idea how slow that was in getting calls out. Thre are drivers that cannot understand English, so dispatch has to repeat constanly what they are saying. Guys will lie about their location; calls get backed up. This is not a good way to get calls off the board.
When the computer came back up, you could tell a world of difference. This system is here to stay. When you consider the additional features, such as atomatic text messages to alert customers of the taxi's arrival, how can you beat this.
We will have this system for the first season coming up in the Fall/Winter season. I can't wait. All things being the same with the economy, I beleive I will make much more money. I am really looking forward to that.
It has been a long road to go. I started this blog in 2005 and by 2007 the recession hit. Many of my post for the last four years have been dire and depressing. Sorrry about that. I really do want to move onto a more postive footing about cab drivng and my taxi stories.

A drunk woman, stark naked, jumped into a taxi at the Courtney Place Cab Rank.
The Indian driver opened his eyes wide and stared at the woman. He made no attempt to start the Cab.
"What's wrong with you Luv, haven't you ever seen a naked woman before?"
"I'll not be staring at you lady, I am telling you, that would not be proper, where I am coming from..."
"Well, if you're not bloody staring at me Luvie, what are you doing then?"
"Well, I am looking and looking, and I am thinking and thinking to myself,
where is this lady keeping the money to be paying me with?!"
Happened to me once but did have a towel around her.
